EA Sports WRC (or simply WRC) is the informal sequel to DiRT Rally 2.0 – the project changed its name (and potentially some of its premise) when Codemasters took over the World Rally Championship (WRC) license from Nacon, which had finished publishing rally simulators based on it for the 2022 WRC Generations game. Electronic Arts has thus added another prestigious form of motorsport, alongside Formula One racing, to its portfolio. EA Sports WRC free download.

Gameplay

Since the game was built on the foundation of the DiRT Rally series, it benefits from its heritage, i.e. advanced physics simulation or a rich collection of cars, representing different eras of rally competition. According to the developers, it is the most realistic rally simulator in their output – although thanks to its “dynamic driving system,” rich configuration options and a wide range of assists (including, for example, simplified pilot’s notes) it is also suitable for less experienced players.

An important novelty is the constructor mode, in which we can design our own rally car from scratch, starting with the chassis and engine components and ending with the personalization of various external and internal details of the machine (including body colors developed with the help of the paint editor). In this way, we will create a machine designed to compete in the WRC, WRC2 or Junior WRC classes.

Large selection of cars and race tracks

We can compete in 18 locations on more than 200 special sections with a total length of over 600 kilometers, consisting of roads with asphalt, gravel or snow surfaces. The game features locations from the current WRC season, as well as a few from past years.

There are 78 rally cars at our disposal – 10 current models with authentic teams, drivers and colors (in the Rally1, WRC2 and Junior WRC classes) and 68 machines of various types that have gone down in the history of this motorsport discipline, such as Group B legends or front-wheel drive so-called kit cars from the 1990s.

Game modes

In addition to various singleplayer modes (with Career at the forefront), there is no shortage of cross-platform network multiplayer gameplay for up to 32 people. Its leading form is Clubs, where tournaments and continuously updated special challenges, recreating current or historical events from real rallies, await users. EA Sports WRC free download for PC.

Technical issues

Significantly, the Codemasters studio abandoned its own Ego technology, which it used in its previous rally simulators, and used the Unreal Engine in EA Sports WRC. According to the developers, this allowed them to create longer and more detailed tracks than was possible before.
