Manor Lords is a medieval strategy game that combines a strategic layer (building a village/city) with spectacular real-time tactical battles. The creation and release of this production is the responsibility of the independent Polish developer Slavic Magic (it is a one-man studio), for whom this is a debut project. The plot of the game

The game does not take place in a specific century or place, but is loosely inspired by historical realities (feudal Europe from the 11th to the 15th century).

Game mechanics

In Manor Lords, the action is largely viewed from above, but the player has control over the camera – they can zoom in and out to look at individual buildings or view the battlefield from a slightly different perspective. The gameplay can be roughly divided into two parts – strategic and tactical.

In the first, we build and develop our own medieval village, which over time grows into a city. We decide what kind of buildings we want to build (each of them has its own purpose), we also have full freedom in the matter of their location – in Manor Lords we do not build according to any grid, each building can be rotated and positioned at will (the title puts emphasis on realism, so you should take into account the relief of the terrain and contact with trade routes).

The game has a system of seasons and changing weather. We will also have to deal with famine, war and plague.

The second part of the game consists of tactical battles reminiscent of the Total War series – we have a number of different units at our disposal, such as archers and light or heavy infantry. The player has the ability to set up unit formations and give orders to troops during the battle.

Technical aspects

Manor Lords has very nice three-dimensional graphics. The title has an almost unprecedented level of realism and detail for a strategy production. The locations look very believable, and the models of individual buildings or troops have been prepared with great care.
