Minecraft is a unique game that, although it’s basically a sandbox game, doesn’t fit into any one genre. It’s all about crafting and offers players a lot of freedom to create their own objects, buildings, structures, and even entire cities. Mojang Studios made it, and Microsoft bought them in 2014. Game Mechanics
In Minecraft, you can play from a first-person or third-person perspective (you can control the distance of the camera). You explore locations and collect materials (you play as a miner), which you then use to create weapons, tools, or buildings.
The game is basically one big sandbox, which doesn’t limit the player’s freedom much. We start out in a randomly generated world made up of three-dimensional blocks (there are more than a hundred different types, each with its own characteristics and uses), which we can influence a lot. In some modes, we can also fight monsters with our own gear.
Updates are continuous
In the middle of 2021, the biggest Minecraft update to date was released. At least for now, because the giant Caves & Cliffs Update was finally broken into two parts. The first one debuted on June 8 and introduced a lot of content. A number of new block types made their way into the game, including copper, iron, and gold in their raw state, as well as Deepslate, which is both a previously absent harder rock type and an alternative variant for all metals. Also making an appearance are snow fluff, dripping leaf, amethyst (including in geode form) and azalea, among others.
The first part of Caves & Cliffs also features a few new mobs. Goats (including more aggressive “shrieking” variants) and axolotls have appeared in the game world, as well as a glowing squid. Minecraft has also been updated with some useful items, like a multi-use vibration detector (sculk sensor) and candles. The Mojang team has also made some minor changes to the world generation, but the bigger news in this regard is for the second part of the update.
Game Modes
Minecraft can be played both alone and with others. You can play locally on your own hardware, or you can start a server for other players or use an existing one. It’s worth noting that some multiplayer servers produced by Mojang Studios have been running for many years and include entire, expansive worlds with very active communities.
In addition, Minecraft gives players a choice in the nature of play. In Creative mode, you can build more stuff without worrying about it. Survival mode is for those who want a bigger challenge. Players who choose it can only feel safe during the day. When night falls, monsters appear, and only proper preparation can save the heroes from death.
If you want more challenging gameplay, there’s always Hardcore, a more difficult survival mode with permanent death. Adventure mode is all about exploring community-created maps and limiting players’ abilities (you can’t directly place or remove blocks). But you can still interact with the environment and mobs in other ways.
Technical issues
Minecraft has a very distinctive three-dimensional graphic design. Both the game world and the creatures moving through it consist of large, cubic blocks, often covered with low-quality textures (pixels are clearly visible). Despite this, the game has its own style and can sometimes look surprisingly good. Minecraft free download for PC.
It’s also worth noting that although the original version of the game is quite simple in terms of technology, an update was released for PC in 2019 that allows you to activate real-time ray tracing (also known as ray tracing) on hardware that supports this technology. This significantly changes the appearance of the game, taking graphics to a whole new level.
