The plot of the game
As the title suggests, the action of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 takes place in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, which is immersed in an eternal war. The main protagonist of the game is Captain Titus, known from the first part of the series, who belongs to an elite squad of Space Marines (played by Clive Standen, known from the movie Abducted and the Vikings series, among others). The protagonist is about to embark on another bloody journey, where he will not only have to slaughter hordes of Tyranids, but also discover the dark secrets of the galaxy.
Game mechanics
In Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, events are viewed from a third-person perspective (TPP). The salt of the gameplay are dynamic and brutal encounters with hordes of enemies, where instead of hiding behind cover, we charge forward with a battle cry on our lips. We eliminate hordes of enemies using a wide range of murderous tools, including futuristic firearms, led by a powerful machine gun. While this works well in situations where we are keeping enemies at a distance, when we are up close and personal with our foes, the iconic sword/chainsaw hybrid is a better option.
Game Modes
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 can be played solo or in multiplayer mode. For players who prefer to play solo, there is a story campaign where we travel through atmospheric locations, participate in large-scale battles, and complete quests. In addition, there is a cooperative campaign for up to three players, as well as PvP modes in which two teams of six players (one representing Space Marines and the other – Chaos Space Marines) fight for victory.
While in the single-player campaign we take on the role of Captain Titus, in the multiplayer modes we take control of a Space Marine representing one of six classes – Tactical, Assault, Vanguard, Bulwark, Sniper, and Heavy. As we progress, we unlock new skills and cosmetic items that allow us to customize the appearance of our soldier.
