More and more studios are trying their hand at the genre, with varying results. But you have to admit that the results can be really interesting! The survival genre is a bit of a hodgepodge. There are some open worlds, exploration, nice graphics and interesting mechanics. The gameplay usually consists of collecting, crafting items (elaborate crafting sometimes makes RPGs dizzying!) and slowly following a guided hero to apparent safety and comfort.
Well, unless we are playing a survival horror game. Then we will never be 100% happy, and the world around us will be anything but friendly. That’s not all. Developers sometimes have really crazy ideas. Once we end up in a jungle full of cannibals or dinosaurs (!), another time we end up on a piece of wood in the middle of the ocean…. on another planet. Well, you have to admit that human ingenuity knows no bounds. Nevertheless, in these games the main task is to survive. Can you do it?

The compilation of the best survival games should begin with an introduction to their creators. We have to admit that the Poles are exceptionally strong in this category. On the one hand, we have 11 bit studios, whose This War of Mine has achieved incredible success. The game reached literally everywhere, including the public. Its mature approach to the topic of civilians in the midst of conflict made TWoM the first digital reading in Polish schools! Another Polish studio (Creepy Jar) is responsible for another international hit, Green Hell. It is one of the best multiplayer survival games! The protagonist survives a plane crash and lands in the deadly Amazon jungle. An interesting storyline and sophisticated survival mechanics make this game stand out from the crowd. Every bloodsucker, every wound and every decision can kill you.

No wonder, they probably grew up with the greatest game in the history of games – Minecraft. Yes, it’s a survival title of sorts. It is still worth giving it a chance – the Mojang studio has not abandoned its project. Minecraft is still being developed and continues to attract millions of players around the world. If we were to make a list of the top 10 survival games for PC, it would certainly be very high. Procedural world, sandbox nature, crafting. If not for the peculiar graphics and the lesser immersion that goes with it, it would be survivalist number one.
Another representative of games where survival is the goal, it does not spare players. The Forest is a multiplayer title and a world champion. Players enter a dark forest and build a shelter. The extensive crafting system draws you in and really offers a lot. And that’s it? Well, no… The developers of Endnight Games send us cannibal mutants! There is definitely something to be afraid of! The list of the best survivors is certainly completed by Dont’s Starve and Don’t Starve Together (co-op). These two unusual productions are the quintessence of original survival mode from the studio Klei Entertainment.

One can’t help but mention the water-filled Subnautica, mmorpg games like Conan Exiles or Ark: Survival Evolved, or the beautiful Polish production The Long Dark. And Valheim? DayZ?
