Against: Operation Galuga is a remake of the cult shoot’em up from 1987. It was developed by WayForward Studio, known for the Shantae series and a number of projects under the Kunio-kun banner. Story of the game
Contra: Operation Galuga takes us to the title islands off the coast of New Zealand. During the game we play as elite Contra commandos, namely Bill Rizer and Lance Bean, whose mission is to stop the Red Falcon terrorist group before they bring destruction to all of humanity.
Game mechanics
In Contra: Operation Galuga we watch the action from the sidelines. As you play, you take control of one of the commandos and shoot your way through eight huge levels – from the jungle to a waterfall to an enemy military complex. Along the way, we jump on platforms, avoid traps, and eliminate hordes of enemies. We have an extensive arsenal at our disposal, including the standard machine gun, the iconic spread shot (which fires several bullets at once), laser weapons and a guided missile launcher.
New to the game is the ability to upgrade your killing tools and use powerful overload abilities. As well as serial enemies, which we can send into the sand in large numbers, there are also powerful bosses to contend with. The game is also enriched by moments where we can watch the action from behind the heroes’ backs or even sit behind the controls of a jet motorcycle.
Game Modes
