Shadow of the Erdtree is the first story-driven expansion for Elden Ring, the 2022 action-RPG. The expansion was developed by Japanese studio FromSoftware. The plot of the game

The story of the Shadow of the Earth Tree DLC takes place in the Lands Between – the land where the Elden Ring takes place. However, players will be able to visit entirely new regions and experience a previously unseen story. The expansion also features additional bosses, inventory items and weapons.

It will be Miquell who will introduce the adventurers to new areas, and during the adventure we will meet other people who “follow in his footsteps” – he is a demigod and brother of Malenia. The plot of the expansion will focus on this character.

Game mechanics

In terms of gameplay, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is not much different from the base game. The player takes on the role of a self-created protagonist and explores vast open areas, battling ‘normal’ enemies and powerful bosses. Each defeated enemy provides the protagonist with runes, which are both currency and experience points.

More than 10 boss duels and up to 8 new weapon categories await players – the developers have announced a large Japanese sword, a monk-style melee weapon and a throwing weapon. Daredevils can already brace themselves for opponents of “Malenia level”, and the difficulty will be similar to the end game of the base game. There will be “lots of new weapons, equipment and skills to find”.

New large world for players to explore

The world structure will be similar to that of Elden Ring, as warriors will travel across a vast terrain, but will also enter dungeons large and small. The developers will be taking players into poisonous swamps, which will likely result in a challenging and intense crossing.

The add-on is expected to feature a new leveling mechanic similar to Sekiro’s Attack Power. The Mesmer (a character in the main art) is an enemy similar in level to Godric and Malenia. Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree free download PC torrent.

Technical issues

At its conception, Shadow of the Erdtree was supposed to be the biggest add-on in From Software’s history. Work on it was to begin immediately after the release of the base version of The Elden Ring, and – as we know – there was initially talk of two DLCs. Miyazaki and company are not planning on releasing another add-on, and may simply offer new content within the existing products.

Shadow of the Earth Tree is not a standalone add-on. This means that in order to play it, you will need to own the basic version of The Elden Ring game.
