Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut is the director’s cut version of the popular action sandbox Ghost of Tsushima. Sony and American studio Sucker Punch, known for producing series such as Sly Cooper and inFamous, are once again responsible for its release. The new version of the game includes all previously released updates and the Legends add-on, as well as brand new content, including graphical enhancements for PlayStation 5 and the Iki Island expansion. Story of Ghost of Tsushima

The story once again takes us back to the year 1274 in feudal Japan, where we play as a samurai named Jin Sakai. The main character must stop the Mongol invaders after they attacked the eponymous island of Tsushima, killing most of his countrymen.

Game Mechanics of Ghost of Tsushima

Like the 2020 original, Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut is an action-adventure game played from a third-person perspective. The title offers us the exploration of a vast open world, which we have the opportunity to traverse both on foot and on horseback.

Wandering through the picturesque countryside of the Land of Cherry Blossom, we often encounter numerous enemies with whom we can engage in combat, using either a katana or a bow. The game offers us different fighting styles, each of which works best against a specific type of warrior.

The enemy has the advantage

Since enemy forces are outnumbered, it is wise to use stealth whenever possible. Distracting enemies with smoke bombs or firecrackers, or eliminating them from a distance with throwing knives or flaming arrows is also a good way to avoid confrontation.

The game also uses a provocation system that allows you to start a fight by issuing a challenge and then eliminate opponents with single, effective blows. However, it is important to time the attacks correctly, otherwise the protagonist will lose a significant amount of health.

New area to explore

The highlight of the Director’s Cut version is the mini-campaign storyline, which allows us to explore the terrain of the title island of Iki – a completely new area, occupied by enemies that do not appear in the main game. The protagonist goes to this place to investigate the rumored presence of Mongols.
