The plot of the game

This time, we come to play the role of a certain Carl Johnson, who several years ago fled his hometown in search of a better tomorrow. After five years, Carl returns to Los Santos, where he finds a gangster world of murder, drugs and corruption. But the city’s uninspiring landscape is not the end of the bad news; the neighborhood he grew up in looks worse than he remembered it from five years ago, and a feuding family mourns Carl’s murdered mother. To top off the bad news, corrupt police officers frame our hero for murder. Welcome to California’s 1990s.

Open world

The game world consists of the state of San Andreas and three cities: Fierro (San Francisco), Las Venturra (Las Vegas) and Los Santos (Los Angeles), between which the player can travel.

Of course, the cities of San Andreas are not just a collection of slums, and the metropolises also have wealthy areas where movie stars, politicians and millionaires live.

Game mechanics

So there’s someone to rob, Carl knows that, and he doesn’t have to act alone, he can recruit people to join his gang. The ability to drive a car together and travel with your gang makes it possible to have fierce battles with rival gangs (for example, the player drives the car while the other passengers fire machine guns at the competition).

Unique atmosphere

The atmosphere of the game itself is kept in the climate of the 90s, while the phenomenal graphics (realistic fog and light reflections on car bodies and realistic shading) and music turn out to be nothing compared to the innovations introduced in GTA: San Andreas compared to the previous part of the series. The biggest of these is probably the introduction of a hunger factor for our hero. It doesn’t end with the provision of food, though, as the character we control can gain weight by overeating, for example. However, this is not the end of the attraction, as unwanted pounds can be shed through regular visits to the gym and an increased dose of exercise.

More realistic than ever

Another thing that makes the game world more realistic is the increased interaction with the buildings in the cities. Burglaries and robberies, which we have to plan and carry out ourselves, are a very important part of the game. There is also no shortage of opportunities to buy various premises that can earn us money. These include a casino where we can burn through some cash ourselves.

Each city is comparable in size to the entire Vice City from the previous part of GTA, so there is no shortage of different means of transport to cover hundreds of virtual kilometres. As well as the usual vehicles such as cars, motorbikes, motorboats, helicopters and aeroplanes, there is also the good old and very useful bicycle. As well as running and driving, Carl Johnson himself can shoot two guns at the same time and, in one of the game’s biggest innovations, swim. GTA: San Andreas free download for PC.

Intelligent NPCs

The positive experience of exploring the cities of San Andreas is linked (apart from the phenomenal graphics) to the intelligence of their inhabitants, who react to our unethical behaviour on the streets, for example, or call us fat if we overeat. According to the developers, in order to feel the climate of each of the cities in GTA: San Andreas, they visited them in person and transferred the specific mental atmospheres they observed to the game.

Despite its gangster theme, GTA: San Andreas introduces humour into the story, making it a must-play for fans of the series as well as those yet to be convinced by the GTA world.
