Infection Free Zone is a production of the city builder genre in which we take control of a community struggling to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. The game differs from other strategies in that we can choose any city as the terrain of our actions. This is possible thanks to real data downloaded from the OpenStreetMap service. Story of the game
The story depicts a world brought to the brink of extinction by a mysterious “mad virus”. It caused thousands of people to die instantly, while others were transformed into bloodthirsty creatures. No one was prepared for the strength, speed and aggression of those infected. The few immune to the virus hid in makeshift shelters. Ever since, they have been waiting for the moment when they can emerge from the underground to rebuild the world and perhaps even develop a cure.
Game mechanics
In Infection Free Zone, we manage a community of survivors in a chosen city. Thanks to the resources of the OpenStreetMap service, we can take the fight to the streets of Warsaw, New York or any other metropolis, using their characteristics and locations to our advantage. Throughout the game, we move our charges around the map (on foot or in vehicles) and loot buildings, taking into account the real location of pharmacies, shops or police stations.
Different development paths
We use the money we earn to expand the so-called infection-free zone. Within this zone, buildings are converted into production facilities, hospitals or armouries. Power stations provide electricity for the community, farms produce food, and high walls and watchtowers help fend off nighttime attacks by the infected.
While playing Infection Free Zone, we may come into contact with other groups of survivors. Some will contact us by radio and offer to trade goods. Others will try to take them by force, using white or firearms. Depending on our strategy, we may seek a cure for the virus or attempt to rebuild the city from the ground up.
