Last Epoch is an action role-playing game developed by independent studio Eleventh Hour Games. The production was developed for the PC platform and was made possible by a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. Last Epoch free download.
The plot of the game
Last Epoch takes place in the fantastic land of Eterra, which is being devoured by a dark force called the Void. To ensure their survival, its inhabitants have taken refuge in an underground city. Fortunately, all is not lost – as one of the survivors, the main character sets out in search of the titular artefact, which will allow him to travel through time; traversing four different incarnations of Eterra, the hero not only discovers its hidden secrets, but also comes closer to learning how to stop the Void.
In addition to the four main epochs (Ancient, Divine, Imperial and Ruined), over time we will be able to explore alternate versions of them, which we can access through the so-called Monolith of Fate, allowing us to continue playing even after completing the main storyline.
Game mechanics
In Last Epoch, released on the PC platform, before starting the game, we choose one of the five basic character classes; a rogue, a mage, a knight, an acolyte and a shaman are at our disposal. But that’s not all, as we progress we will be able to choose a master specialisation, which will allow us to direct our character’s development in the direction that suits us best; for example, a rogue can become a master of white weapons or an archer, while an acolyte can become a necromancer or a combat mage.
All that remains for us to do is take part in the game, which is played in an isometric view. As the game progresses, we will travel through different versions of the land of Eterra, complete story quests and side missions, and face hordes of enemies. We also increase the hero’s combat potential by unlocking and developing his skills (each of which has an extensive upgrade tree) and stats, as well as acquiring increasingly better equipment.
Character Classes
The class we choose determines which equipment our hero can use, and some items can only be found in a specific era – if we want to transfer them from one era to another, we can use a special cache that exists independently of space-time. Nothing prevents us from upgrading our armoury, weapons and gadgets with the help of the crafting system, or getting rid of unnecessary ballast at the merchants.
