Story of the game
Mirthwood takes us on a journey to a fantastic world inspired by the Middle Ages. During the game we play a character who has escaped from a war-torn continent and arrived in an unknown land, where she intends to start her life anew. The direction she takes depends on our actions and decisions.
Game Mechanics
In Mirthwood we see the action from a bird’s eye view. The production provides us with an open world consisting of six different regions and three large cities. As we wander through the world, we get to know its inhabitants, perform various tasks and take part in random events.
The game allows us to choose what kind of virtual life we will lead. For example, we can start our own farm, collect resources, build a house, cultivate the land and raise animals.
We can also become a craftsman, making various items from the resources we collect and selling them in towns. Other than that, there is nothing to stop us from engaging in adventurous pursuits and facing the dangers that lurk in the wilderness.
Defeat any opponent
We fight opponents such as bandits, aggressive animals or monsters (such as werewolves) in dynamic skirmishes, using sword and bow. As we acquire new equipment and develop our character, we will gradually grow in strength, allowing us to take on more and more challenges.
Gain allies
But that’s not all, as the aforementioned title allows us to build relationships with the inhabitants of the land, each of whom lives their own life. Through an interaction system inspired by that of The Sims series, we can make friends (and even find our other half) or enemies.
Survival elements have also been incorporated into the game; summer storms, biting frosts or diseases can effectively thwart our plans, so it’s worth preparing for them in advance.
