The plot of the game
After the nocturnal escapades of the first two instalments of Need for Speed: Underground, it is time to drive a sports car in completely different conditions. The game still takes place in a single metropolis with a fairly large area and a wide variety of buildings (residential areas, industrial zones, etc.).
Game mechanics
The objective of the game is to become the best street racer on the so-called Black List, while dealing with potential rivals and law enforcement officers in police cars. So not only do we take part in numerous illegal races in normal everyday city traffic, but we also often have to run away from violent police officers. It’s worth noting that when a high-risk situation arises (such as a truck suddenly pulling out of a side street), a momentary slowdown of the action is activated, a la the famous bullet-time effect from the Matrix film trilogy, allowing you to manoeuvre with relative calm and precision.
Wide range of cars
The developers have gone to great lengths to obtain the right licences, so there are many authentic cars in the virtual reality, including the BMW M3 and Mazda RX-8. Each car can be tuned both externally and internally, so at our discretion we can add spoilers, change the paint, improve the drivetrain, fit professional sets of tyres, etc. In addition, four-wheelers are subject to realistic damage, so a head-on collision with a concrete wall at excessive speed will simply end the game.
