Plot and game world

However, Arthur is a typical gangster who steals and kills without hesitation, although he does have his principles. Throughout the game, we are repeatedly faced with important choices that ultimately affect our Honor Factor. This is because our actions affect how others perceive us, even random people.
Going back in time
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel to the original game, depicting events that took place before its beginning. This gives us the opportunity to get to know Dutch van der Linde better. He is not the only character from the first game to appear in this one. The game also features John Marston, the protagonist of the original Red Dead Redemption.
This turns out to be a very good solution, as we can easily start our adventure in the virtual Wild West by playing the second part of the series. Those interested in the development of the story can then safely move on to the original Red Dead Redemption.
The plot naturally takes us through the different corners of this interesting and vast world. However, nothing prevents you from exploring the world on your own, smoothly traversing desert, swamp, forest and mountain areas as you go.
Virtual America is a wonderful and delightful place, although it is also very dangerous. As a gangster, you are threatened by various, often random events, regardless of your actions. In the world of Red Dead Redemption 2, we constantly encounter surprising situations: people in need of help or favours, other gangsters and many other events. Betrayal would simply spoil the fun.
Gameplay
The gameplay in RDR 2 could most easily be described as ‘GTA 5 in the Wild West’. However, this is an oversimplification that does not do justice to Rockstar Games’ latest work. Of course, there are countless similarities, especially since the shooting model is similar to that of the studio’s previous game.
What differs, however, is the arsenal, which is tailored to the time and place of the action. There is also a deadly precision system known as Dead Eye, which allows you to slow down time, aim your weapon more accurately, and plan several shots in succession. This makes it easier to engage in more difficult firefights.
Another interesting aspect of the game is the camp where the whole group lives. This is where we meet members of the group and spend time playing mini games or celebrating successes together. We can manage the location by investing money in various improvements and using supplies. Over time, we also unlock the ability to quickly travel there, although only to a few designated places.
Alongside the main plot, there are plenty of additional activities to enjoy, such as random encounters, side quests and searching for dangerous criminals. There are also the aforementioned mini-games to play, including poker, dominoes, blackjack and a knife-throwing game.
The graphic and sound design
Designing such a large, convincing, realistic world is a difficult task. However, Rockstar has achieved this perfectly. Every part of the map seems well thought out, even the bushes, trees, uneven terrain and other objects, as if they were the work of a particular person and not a location generator.
The visual side of RDR2 impresses at every turn. It is arguably the most visually stunning video game ever, although it should be noted that this effect does not stem from sharp, detailed textures or the use of previously unknown techniques.
