The plot of the game

The main protagonist of Robin Hood: Builders of Sherwood is the titular Robin Hood – an outlaw known from medieval English legends, who robbed from the rich and gave to the poor, and fought against the hard-nosed Sheriff of Nottingham. The protagonist and his friends, such as his beloved Lady Marion, Little John, Brother Tuck, Allan of the Valley and Will Scarlet, hide in the rugged forest of Sherwood. In order to wrest power from the despotic Sheriff, Robin and those who choose to join him must first set up a prosperous camp where they can prepare for the coming upheaval in peace.

Game mechanics

In Robin Hood: Builder of Sherwood, gameplay takes place on two levels. The first level is a characteristic of action RPGs. We traverse the vast open world (on foot or on the back of a mount) and complete various tasks. Throughout the game, we attack the Sheriff’s men and caravans of merchants working with him, take part in hunts, ambush convoys and fight bandits. Skirmishes are dynamic and we use both bow and sword.

As you progress, you will build up a network of contacts, meeting not only potential recruits for your camp (found both in the villages and in the city of Nottingham), but also local merchants and landlords with whom you can trade your surplus goods. Think strategically

The second level of gameplay is strategic. Once we have found a suitable place to build a camp, we can enter management mode. The camera then changes perspective and shows our settlement from a bird’s eye view. In this mode, you will be responsible for expanding the camp’s infrastructure, building new structures and improving existing ones, as well as training recruits, to whom you can assign different functions; our subordinates can be hunters, guards, robbers, builders or farmers. The production of various goods also plays an important role, as Robin’s subordinates not only need something to fight with, but also something to wear and eat.
