Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is a compilation of remastered versions of the first three games in the best-selling Tomb Raider action-adventure series. Developed and published by Aspyr Media, the compilation includes Tomb Raider (1996), Tomb Raider II: The Dagger of Xian (1997) and Tomb Raider III: Adventures of Lara Croft (1998). Gameplay

In the first Tomb Raider game, young archaeologist Lara Croft travels to Peru to find an artefact called the Scion in the mountains. After a successful expedition, the protagonist falls victim to betrayal and becomes embroiled in a much larger intrigue. This is the beginning of her great expedition, which will take her to Egypt and Atlantis, among other places.

In the second part of the series, Miss Croft travels to China in search of the magical Xian Dagger, which, according to ancient legend, gives its owner true power. Our archaeologist must hurry, because on the trail of the dagger is a power-hungry Italian Mafioso who will stop at nothing to get his hands on it.

In the third instalment of the series, Lara follows the trail of unusual artefacts made from meteorite fragments, taking her to London and the United States, among other places.

Game mechanics

In the games that make up the Tomb Raider I-III Remastered package, we see the action from a third-person perspective (TPP). Subsequent missions will take us through various locations where we will face arcade-style challenges (such as jumping over gaps or avoiding deadly traps), solve various logical and environmental puzzles (requiring you to find certain items and use them in a certain way, or find hidden passages), and fight the enemies you encounter.

Subsequent games in the series develop the plot of the first game. In the second adventure, the protagonist has a greater range of movement, is equipped with flares, and uses a snowmobile and a motorboat. The third part of the series introduces elements of non-linearity, allowing you to choose the order in which you visit certain locations. The game is also diversified by stealth sections where you have to sneak behind enemies’ backs, and the list of available vehicles includes: a kayak, an off-road vehicle and a quad.

Technical issues

Compared to the originals, the Tomb Raider I-III Remastered compilation boasts significantly refreshed graphics. Not only have the authors increased the resolution, but they have also taken a closer look at the character models and changed the textures, making the environment much more pleasing to the eye. You can switch between the classic and new versions of the graphics at any time during the game.
